The monograph focuses on the problems of interconnection between zoning and market formation in the course of Russian colonization of the Far East in the mid- 19th- early 20th centuries. The methodological aspects of historical-geographical analysis of the processes of transformation of territorial set-up of the community at a regional level have been studied. The core of the work has been devoted to research into the processes of market area formation within rural economy of the southern part of the Far East, as well as to the effects of natural and social-economic factors on organizational evolution of different types of farming. In addition, the possibilities of applying the domestic historical experience to address current issues of local market regulation have been considered.
