The edition is dedicated to the memory of Sheingauz A.S., doctor of agriculture, professor, honored economist of the Russian Federation, and continues a series of reviews of the Russian Far East forest sector, started in 1995. It represents a reedition, supplemented and revised, of an analytical review of the Russian Far East forest sector published in 2005. This edition examines the condition, use and reproduction of forest resources in Russia's Far East under the reform launched in the field of forestry. The situation in the industries using these resources and in timber export is analyzed. The main social and environmental problems related to forest use, and a presumable role of the population and public organizations in improving forest relations are considered.
The book is intended for a wide range of experts in the region's natural resources management.
