The monograph analyzes the concept, goals and instruments of the forest policy. Russia’s forest policy during the transition period is studied.  A conceptual model of the region’s forest industry is devised. The spatial organization of the forest industry is studied in terms of institutional reforms in the sphere of forest use in Russia in 1990–2007. The influences and development criteria of the Russian Far East’s forest complex under conditions of centralized economy, in the reform and post-reform periods are studied. The forest policies and trends in the forest sectors of East Asian countries, as well as the position of the Russian Far East’s forest industry in forest markets of that region are analyzed.

The monograph is intended for researchers, government officers, teachers, postgraduates, and university students.
